Ashley Castrenze

Ashley Castrenze’s experience with horses runs deep in the family, as she is the daughter of Thoroughbred racing trainer Charles Castrenze, and her mother Jackie Acksel was a longtime jockey. Born in Baltimore and raised in Tampa, she became familiar with traveling to different racetracks for years. Her mother introduced her to horses before she could even walk. She has been involved with competitively showing Thoroughbreds and riding on the track as a jockey, a combination not many can say they have. She took in the first horse she won a race on, Sister Pat, when her owners decided she was ready to retire and find another job. She has confidently retrained and sold multiple off the track Thoroughbreds to experienced show homes. Castrenze also has ridden for many stakes winning trainers, including Thomas Proctor, Graham Motion, and Jeremiah O’Dwyer. Her sister, Emily Castrenze, has served as an assistant trainer for graded stakes winning trainers as well.
