Robbie grew up racing in Ireland under his father Paddy’s tutelage and after reluctantly finishing school, under orders from his mother Monica, jumped into his quest to become a jockey. After some success in the saddle as an amateur Robbie found his way to the U.S. with his wife Carmel where he carved out a career as a professional steeplechase jockey winning multiple graded stakes, including three New York Turf Writers Cup G1. Two of those were on Eclipse Award Winner Demonstrative, his mount for the Real Rider Cup. Demonstrative is owned by Mrs. George Ohrstrom in whose colors Robbie will be riding.
While currently an exercise rider for Herringswell Stables in Fair Hill since 2011, Robbie is also involved in a few projects outside of riding horses and loves hanging out with his kids, Kevin and Laura, cooking on the grill and playing golf.
